Woan family

The Woan family moved to Australia from Preston, Lancashire, settling into Harrington Waters Private Estate in June 2005. Pam was actually born in Australia; her parents emigrated here in 1964, but had to move back to the UK for family reasons in 1969.

Pam felt the need to find her roots and the entire family came back to Australia. They were renting in the Safety Bay area and initially favoured purchasing an established house. After detouring through Harrington Waters Private Estate they fell in love with the lake and parklands. A feeling of plenty of space was also an influencing factor in their ultimate decision.

The Woans recognised the potential of Harrington waters to offer a real family lifestyle, so they purchased land at Harrington Waters and eventually elected to have a New Generation home built. They were impressed that it only took 11 months from signing the land contract to moving into their home.

Two weeks after arriving in Australia, Steve secured employment as a bus driver with South Coast Transit. Pam is employed as a Support Worker. Rebecca (12) and Lindsey (11) love their school, Charthouse Primary, Waikiki. The two girls have made lots of friends and look forward to their schooling each day.

The family is impressed with the many community activities sponsored by Harrington Waters. These include an annual community fair, Christmas carols around the lake, Easter egg hunt and a talent quest. Schools, shopping centres, facilities and the soon-to-be completed Warnbro Railway Station are close at hand.

While Preston is approximately 30 minutes drive from the nearest beach, Blackpool, the family is impressed with the proximity of Harrington Waters to the beautiful beaches along the Waikiki, Warnbro and Safety Bay coastlines. It’s only a five minute drive for a relaxing swim or stroll along the many beaches.

The Woan family’s pets include Louie the dog, who is 14months old, and the two cats Tammy and Tara, both 2 years old.
