Smart Harrington Water Use (Media Release)

Harrington Waters Private Estate’s environmentally friendly dewatering process saves scheme water being wasted in a time of restrictions and shortages, and recycles water back into the water table.

The water is being pumped out of the ground for the dewatering process, so that sewage pipes and cables can be laid, and into the storm drains on Safety Bay Road. The storm drains are linked directly into the lake at Harrington Waters Private Estate, which in turn feeds the local ground water system.

The high level of water in the lake indicates a healthy local ground water supply.

At the contractors’ cost, water is pumped from the lake to keep the dust settled on site. Any run off is returned to the ground water system. The alternative would be to use scheme water which as we know is short in supply and under strict control.
